Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you know already, Dan left for a tour in Afghanistan last Friday. I talked to Jessica yesterday. He will be doing some training in Indiana for several weeks, but will be overseas all too soon. He will be attached to the 47th Infantry out of Georgia. Please remember to keep him and all in harms way in your thoughts and prayers. When I get his address I will gladly pass it on to you. I'm sure that he will love hearing from everyone. Jessica says that they are all holding up well in the Black Hills, despite winters stubborn refusal to give in. Natalie and Rachel are doing well in school, and looking forward to doing some promised traveling and site seeing with their mother this summer. Blake is healthy and growing, and keeping Jess very busy. She is in charge of the landscaping at the new house this summer.

I found this while surfing the web for something that I wish I could say in Dan's absence, but my mind wouldn't wrap around any words. I cried and hope you find it touching, too. Love, Carol

"I've Got Your Back"

I am a small and precious child, my dads been sent to fight...

The only place I'll see his face, is in my dreams at night.

He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.

I may be sad, but I am proud.

My daddy's got your back.

I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war...

My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before.

Every day I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.

I may be scared, but I am proud.

My son has got your back.

I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband who had to go.

There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know.

I bite my lip, and force a smile as I watch my husband pack...

My heart may break, but I am proud.

My husband's got your back...

I am a soldier... Serving Proudly, standing tall.

I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call.

I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks.

Say a prayer that I'll come home.

It's me who's got your back.

Hello...Here we are on the verge of another New Year. I hope that you have all had a happy and memorable Christmas. Marshall and I spent Christmas in the hills with Dan, Jess and the girls. Sue and Steve joined us for a couple of days. David, Bobbette and the boys were unable to make the trip this year, but were with us in our thoughts. Jessica is very pregnant with our next new grandchild, due any day now.

Times have been rather tough for us and the whole country these past few months, but we are looking forward to the possibility of improvement in the New Year. We still have troups in Harms way overseas. Our Daniel will be joining them in June. We are just grateful that he is able to be home with Jessica and the girls now while awaiting the birth of their new baby, and here to help build and settle into their new home in the Black Hills.

Marshall and I will be celebrating another anniversary soon. Our 36th, believe it or not. I wonder where the years have gone.

I have been smoke free for nearly a month now, and have not killed one person....YET......I've threatened great bodily harm to several, though! Wish me luck in the endevour. I sometimes wonder if I will ever be free of this monkey on my back!

On that note I will close and wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year. ---Carol

October 30 2008

Just getting around to doing some updating again. It was a beautiful and productive summer here in South Dakota. The rain has hampered some of the farmers from an early corn harvst, but it looks like a another bumper crop none the less.

As usual I was looking forward to the cooler days of autumn. I still enjoy experiencing the changes in the seasons, but I'm beginning to believe along with my mother that perhaps the snowy season lasts just a little too long (the older I get, anyway!).

Marshall is still working on the road construction crew, and we're hoping they can keep him busy until Thanksgiving. He is looking forward to a little time off after that. Who Knows, maybe I can talk him into taking a extended vacation to the Hills where Dan and Jess could certainly use his help with the finishing touches of their new house. I got to see their progress a couple of weeks ago when I bummed a ride to Rapid City with my sister-in-law, Jean. Dan and Jess' new baby is well under construction for a January arrival, too! All is well in the Hills!

Dave and Bobbette took a hit to their home from Gustov early in the summer. Lost a part of their roof from tree damage. I think they are recovering from that shock. They report that Coton likes his new school and

is doing well, and our Sam is growing like the little Digger that he is!

That's it for this trip...Keep in touch! ...Carol

5-1-08 Happy May Day!

Here it is the 1st of May, and I find myself south of the Mason-Dixon line once again. Our daughter-in-law, Bobbette is having a difficult pregnancy and I have come south to help her out where and when I can. Baby isn't due for a couple of more weeks, and I hope for her sake he doesn't decide to "dawdle" like his daddy (David) did and arrive 9 days late!

I've been in Bastrop for a month now. I've suffered one severe bout of homesickness, but it was quickly overcome by getting on the phone with my mom and chatting for an hour. Marshall assures me that things on the Broken Saddle are fine, and that they miss me back home as much as I miss them. It is a different way of life down here, but I will adjust.

In the meantime, I have missed out on the last couple of blizzards in eastern SD, and i here another is due for today! Will Winter never turn loose of it's grips up North? They say spring has been unusually cool for Louisiana, too.

That's about all the news worth reporting until the baby is born. His name is Samuel David, by the way. I KNEW that there would be a Sam in my life some day, as I've met him in my dreams for years now. Suppose I've developed the ability to predict the future? I hope not...I like surprises, especially the good ones!....Keep in touch, Carol

Hello everyone!

I know it's been awhile since I've updated anything much in the newsletter. Not much new to report. It seems like spring is wanting to come out of hiding. It seems to have been a long, cold winter in South Dakota. Price of fuel is out of this world. Hope something gives soon.

Marshall and I have a new grandson on the way. Dave and Bobbette are expecting the end of May, and we can hardly wait to add him to our growing family. Dan and Jes have moved from Casper back to our Black Hills. While I will miss visiting Casper, I'll be glad to have them a few hours closer to home and back in the Hills.

That's about all the news that is worth reporting from Carol's Corner of the world. Take care everyone, and keep in touch!

Found a place to get online until I get a new computer! I'm sitting in the school library in Elkton. Guess I can run to town a couple of times a month to check out the site. The bonus is that it is high speed to boot! I have a temporary e-mail address (I think).

Try carol.janssen@yahoo.com. I probably won't retrieve my email very often often. My home address has not changed, my my phone number is still the same.

I sure am glad to see the cooler weather move in. It hasn't froze yet, so I am still getting ripe tomatoes out of the garden. We canned about 60 quarts of tomatoes over the summer. There is something about fall tomatoes that makes them taste just a little sweeter than the rest.

I finally got Baby Lily's picture uploaded on the Baby, too, page. She's a real dolly! Congrats to Mary James' family on their new precious addition.

I'm hoping that everyone is doing well and prospering out there. Keep in touch.....Carol

5-11-07

Hello Family from a warm and Muggy Bastrop Louisiana. Mom and I are on a two week vacation to the south. We are at Dave and Bobbettes (Janssen) home and enjoying the sights and sounds from their park like back yard.

Mom and I managed to get through Council Bluffs, Kansas City and Little Rock with just a couple of wrong turns and missed exits. We really got lost in Pine Bluff, AR, but mom checked the map and found us an alternitive route. (We perfer to call it a found short cut!)

The water is high and deep along Interstate 29 through Iowa and Missouri. Mom said in all of her years she had never seen that much water standing in fields for such long stretches of miles. Will be awhile before those farmers get into their fields.

We will be attending a couple of baseball games for step grandsons Jake and Colton. I have never been a big baseball fan, but hey, I figure I'm not too old to pick up new pastimes!

Spring is definetly in the air here in the south, and the farmers are busy in the fields at home also. Bobbette says she will take us to Natchez sometime this next week. We want to see some plantaion homes. Till next update...Keep in Touch..Carol

3-13-07

Hello All,

Looks as if Spring may have sprung here in SD. We saw the first Robin in the Lawn this morning...and that is always a welcome site on the acreage. We survived the big Blizzard of '07, even after our governer declared us a "disaster", I have yet to see FEMA trying to reach out to us and give us our check...I guess Hank Williams Jr is right and "Country Folk Can Survive". I suppose you could say that a foot of snow isn't even a stretch for those of us in the country anymore. Although our Steven did get the old van stuck in a 4 foot drift a few miles down the road. Marshall just took the bosses payloader down there and dug him out and drug him home. Like I said "no stretch". We didn't lose lights or heat. Although we could easily survive that, too!

Haven't heard a lot about family happenings out there. I hope that everyone is still checking in once in awhile. I have not been the best source for updated info on the family, but will still try. I hope that everyone remembers that we are still a part of the Pratt and Lelia (Stewart) Cameron family, and what happens to you, happens to all of us! I welcome news from everyone! So...Till I hear from you..from my heart to yours...Keep In Touch, Carol

01-10-07

2007 New Year Greetings to all. January has never been my favorite month of the year, but so far it has not been a real bad January here on the Broken Saddle. Everyone from our little family made it to and from Casper, Wy , where we celebrated the Yuletide with our son Dan and his wife Jessica and our two precious angels. Dave, Bobbette and their two scaliwags Jake and Colton made the trek from Louisianna to Wyoming and then on to our Broken Saddle all in one week. We managed to have all our children in the same place for Christmas, which was a real treat for me. Santa was very good to all of us. The Louisianna contigency had a rough trip home over some snow packed and slippery roads. Bobbette and the boys got their first taste of snow and ice. God supplied us with a beautiful white Christmas in Casper.

We were glad to hear from all the folks through Christmas cards and letters. Sounds like the Cameron clan has prospered indeed in the year 2006. My prayers go out to Aunt Alice and Uncle Walt. I understand that Walt is having a tough time of it with his health....they are never far from my thoughts and prayers.

Mary Reeves suffered the loss of her home due to a fire in December. I haven't kept close tabs with her, but I hear through the grapevine that she is currently staying with Holly and Ken and is on the look-out for a new home. My sister Val sees Mary quite often, as they both work at the Flandreau Casino. I don't go to the casino very often, but when I do happen to get over there, Mary is always the friendliest face in the crowd!

There is a new Christmas memory from Carrie on the Holiday Memory page. I'm always thankful when some-one sends something my way. Lisa Cameron (Jeff) has a recent song out and circulating the country. "Folded Flag" is a heart touching song, and I'm sure that Jeff could get it to any of you if you e-mail him.

That's it for now. Stay warm and keep in touch!-Carol

Hello family,

Suppose that I should let everyone know that has heard of the accident that everyone is on the mend. For those who haven't heard about the Halloween accident I better let you know. My sister, Valerie's youngest, Chelsea, was the driver in a roll-over 8 miles east of Elkton. There were three other 15 year olds in the car with her. None were wearing seatbelts, but all came away with relatively minor injuries. (Nothing less than a miracle considering the sheriff feels the car rolled 7 or 8 times...I still want to cry when I think of it!) Chelsea and Haley were taken by ambulance to Brookings. Courtney was air lifted to Sioux Falls with the most major injuries ( concussion and a broken pelvis), and the Mexican guy (can't pronounce or type his name) was taken to Pipestone and released. Chelsea and Haley were released from Brookings that night. Both are on crutches from ankle and leg injuries..Courtney came home on crutches a couple days later, and she is now doing well.

On the other hand, Valerie tore out her Achilles Tendon while running down the road to the scene of the accident that night. She has since had surgery to repair it, and will be in a cast and on crutches for awhile, but she too, is on the mend.

Mike and Val have replaced their nice car with another nice ride...complete with four air bags! (Again) The air bags were the only thing anyone can think of that saved those kids' lives. That and the Grace of God.....Valerie has good insurance...though we all agree that was and is the least of the problems that occurred that long night. We were most grateful for cell phones to call the surrounding hospitals to see how the other kids were doing. That and for each other to cling too.

As far as the small town Elkton gossip goes,--We all know that there will be something else to replace this in a short while. We just hope and pray that they come out as Blessed as we were.... With Love, Carol

Hello Everyone,

We got home to Elkton last night at about 6 PM. What a whirlwind trip! We sidetracked on the way to Louisiana to tour the Ozarks. Had Val in her car with Denise, Shaelean and Chelsea pulling up the rear. Val swears we took that tour on two wheels, as Marshall saw the curves and hills as a challenge! You'll have to ask her to tell the story! We had Mothers Roween and Jean in our van. I was surprised no-one got car sick! The trip down was pretty uneventful, except for Val's flat tire 120 miles out of Bastrop. (I think Marshall set his new personal tire changing record!)

David's home is quite beautiful (albeit toasty!) His yard was picture perfect for a garden wedding. His bride is all that we had hoped she would be...lovely and charming in a southern way! I'm waiting for a professional picture of the couple, as none of mine turned out very well. You'll have to settle of a picture of Dave with his flower girls (MY PRECIOUS ANGELS!) for now.

On Monday Dave, Bobbette and son Colton, Marshall, me and our mothers toured The Vicksburg Battlefield. It was very interesting. Hard to even imagine the battle that took place in that hilly and forested area. We bought the tape to listen to as we toured the area. We ate our lunch on the Mississippi Riverboat Belle of the South. Dave, Bobbette and Colton headed back to Bastrop after that as Dave had to work. Moms and us took a tour of downtown Vicksburg in search of a plantation mansion to tour, but they were all closed due to Labor Day. I was a bit disappointed. Expected to see Tara, you know! Oh well...Maybe the next time..Had supper that night with Bobbette's folks..jumbleia (SP) Very interesting. Her folks are very hospitable. Loads of Southern Charm once again.

We left Tuesday morning bright and early. We headed to Shreveport before heading north. We toured the Ouachita National Forest (HWY 71 scenic route). The most beautiful scenery we saw wasn't on the route at all, but on interstate 540 from Fort Smith to the Missouri border. Then back on HWY 71 To Kansas City. We stayed the night in Carthage Missouri (where they make Precious Moments). The trip home from there went well and fairly fast. The whole trip had some road work, but nothing that really held us up. It was great to get home. All the critters are alive and well, but the lawn needs mowed! Garden held it's own and has waited for us!

Hope everyone had as nice a Labor Day as we did! Keep in touch, Love, Carol

6-27-2006

Hello again family and friends....I've been offline for awhile now, but I've climbed back in the saddle today. Once again summer seems to be flying by before my very eyes! Cogratulations to Ida, Eric and big brother Toby on the addition of little Clara to their family! See her picture on the Oh Baby page! What a little darling!

We've been busy here on the Broken Saddle with the summer months and all that entails. I enjoyed seeing so many friendly Cameron family faces in St Cloud at my nephews' graduations. It's hard for me to believe that our Cameron twins (Rick and Ryan) have passed that milestone already, but they have and are looking forward to bigger and better days ahead.

I made the hike out to Casper Wy with my mother AND mother-in-law the first week of June. (Will somebody please shine my tarnished halo?) My grandaughters got an education on just how many Grandmas can be in a room at one time! I think the little girls loved it...I know that us big girls loved it, too!

Well, here's to hoping that everyone is loving these lazy, hazy days of summer! Hope to see you all at Curt and Reenies for the family reunion in August! -Love, Carol

First of all, Happy Birthday to my brother Craig!

  44 Already? Hmmm...

I've been keeping myself busy studying for a test that I haven't taken for 36 years...Yes I forgot to renew my drivers license..For dumb! My old test anxiety has surfaced to the top, so I went online for a SD Drivers Manual. I took the practice test and passed (just barely), so thought I better brush up. Not much has changed, except for this 4 second or 2 second thing? They are talking a lot about multiple lane driving, too, which is practically non existant in South Dakota! Maybe they have plans for the future afterall.

We are experiencing our first taste of spring 2006. I have been faithful about doing my walking 2 whole days in a row. Maybe I can make it a trend. I can see I'm going to have to walk off my cabboose. It ain't going away on it's own.

Plans are underway for the 2006 reunion at Curt and Doreen's. Keep checking your mailboxes and this newsletter for updates. Hope to see many friendly and familiar faces there!

With the warmer weather my mood has lightened somewhat. I hope everyone is doing all right out there! Drop me a line sometime! And keep in touch..Carol

1-27-06

Greetings cousins and friends, I'm writing from Casper Wy. I suppose that the folks in Elkton will say that I have gone AWOL, but I prefer to call it a short winter reprieve. I am enjoying my visit with Dan and his family very much. I have been here for two weeks. Marshall and Steven are on their way to retrieve me today. It will probably take both of them to drag me away from my granddaughters. I will have till Monday to come to terms with my being needed at home!

I have found a place that is actulally windier than eastern South Dakota. It is here in Casper. I swear they are sitting under a huge ceiling fan, because the wind seems to blow from all directions! The couple of nice days without wind that they have had since my arrival have been very pleasant!

I turned 50 the other day. I hope I can get over the dole drum mood that that turning 50 pitched me into. The angels made me a cake, and I celebrated with them that day, so how bad could it really be?

Not much news is getting turned into me, so the newsletter is kind of stale. Any-one out there have anything to share? Keep in touch!-Carol

1-04-06

Hello All,

Looks like we found our way into another year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season and is Blessed in this New Year.

Dave made it home from Louisiana for a Christmas visit. We were able to produce some snow for him this year. He thought it was cold, but really we were quite balmy up here for most of his visit! I suppose that southern climate has spoiled him a bit, and I picked up the beginnings of a Southern twang in his voice. His Bastrop Rams picked up the Louisiana State Football Championship this last season, so there was much to celebrate, and tapes and CD's to watch and discuss.

Craig, Selma, Ross, Ryan and Rick were able to spend some time on the Broken Saddle with us at Christmas, and we enjoyed their visit so very much.

Holly and her kids and Jim were unable to make it to Elkton this year, but they managed to meet up with Bob and Pam and the Masterion family at Fort Campbell. See the photo of the month!

Dan and Jess and the girls spent Christmas at their new home in Casper. We missed them so much, but we were able to speak to them often over the Holidays. Next year it is Casper or bust at Christmas for the Janssen family. I've given everyone fair warning to plan for some time off.

I hate to admit it, but the decorations are still up at my house. Maybe I'm just not ready to let go of Christmas yet--or more likely I haven't found the amition to dig out the boxes from the basement! I keep telling myself that Epiphany is not until the 6th, and my Gramma Heesch never took down decorations until then...Well, it's as good of a excuse as any!

That's it for now. Thanks Sharon for sending in your Holiday memories! I'll leave the page up for awhile! Keep in touch...Carol

Hello All,

Welcome to all of our web serfers.. It came to my attention recently that we are on the Google web search engine. Needless to say, I will not put any addresses on this web site without your personal permmision. Privacy was always a formost concern for both Larry and Myself. We love our little personal website, and preditors and perverts are NOT allowed! In the meantime, I have seen how our visitor count has jumped, and I welcome all Camerons looking for connections with us to contact me!

I apologize for not updating this page lately. To put it frankly, there has been some very hard times .. and some very good times here on the Broken Saddle lately. I enjoyed watching Craigs twins play a well fought game on their home field in St Cloud. They are the last of their HS football generation for the Jim Cameron generation, and are making their mark for the St Cloud Tigers. Dan made a trip home with our little granddaughters, and we had a grand time on the horses, trampoline , swing set and slides. The next week found us sending two pets home to their eternal rest. It is never easy to say good-bye to a 20 year old cat and a 14 year old dog, but when push came to shove we couldn't find a logical reason to make them suffer another SD winter. God Speed to our Boots Cat and my best buddy Touchdown.

Last I heard cousin Nancy is recovering from her heart surgery. No news is good news, and that is what i Count on in the long run.

Check out the Military Page. Craig and Selma's Ross was recently awarded a Purple Heart for injuries recieved while on convoy duty in Iraq. Last I talked to him he felt it was undeserved (because so many have give so much more!) God Bless that Boy!

Our garden is in. , and our local farmers are harvesting a record bumper crop. LIFE, for the most part is good here in SD, and I hope it is good for all of you, no matter where you have wondered from home!... Keep in touch-Carol

07-28-05

Greetings from Colorado Springs, where we visiting Dan's family for a week. We did a one night stop in the Black Hills and stayed with some friends and had a very nice time. The ride through Wyoming was tedious, but perhaps that was because we were anxious to be kissing up on our granddaughters! Jessica is in San Diego for the week, and Dan is working 8 to 5, so we have the days to spend with Natalie and Rachel. It is akin to leaving the fox in charge of the henhouse! We are enjoying the little girls, but find their parents can be sticks in the mud! Parents tend to think about sugar and naps and bathes and bedtimes and "proper nutrition". Now that we are grandparents we get to concentrate on where is the nearest McDonald's....Is the park within walking distance...Is there enough cookies in the house....Which Barbie movie should we watch next....and of course kisses and hugs at bedtime and when they crawl down the steps in the morning. We currently have a camp site set up in the garage complete with a tent, blow up mattress and folding chairs. Dan will not let us start a camp fire out there, (stick in the mud that he is!) so we let the girls blow the flames out on our lighters. We make sure and tell them they are "windy" like Grandpa Cameron used to tell me! So we are having a blast. All good things must come to an end, though, and our time with them will come to an end on Saturday. I already can't wait for them to visit us in September!

I hope everyone is having a fun summer. Keep in touch...Carol

June 23, 2005

Over a month has passed since I updated Carol's Corner! Happy Birthday to my mom (Roween) and my grand niece Amanda!

The garden is planted and looking good! I have spent the last twenty- four hours filling the pool. Just in time for the 100 degree days that are upon us. Every year I claim that I am NOT going to put up that pool this year, and then the first 85 degree day hits, and setting up the pool doesn't sound like soooo awful much work!

The horses are providing me with so much entertainment, and more than a few bumps and bruises. We bought a saddle, and Don and Pam bought a saddle, so now we are a real bunch of cowboys and cowgirls here on The Broken Saddle. Gracie (the Pony) has a fancy little sidestep that she has profected, and has set me on the ground a couple of times. Hence the bumps and bruises! Thank Heavens she is only 13 hands tall! When I'm on 15 hand Gypsy that distance to the ground looks like 20 feet! Fortunately Gypsy, although just green broke, has proven herself to be very well mannered thus far!

I am enjoying my time off this summer. The working world may just have to get by without me for a long while! I'm gateful that I have the opportunity to be a stay at home wife again for this summer at least!

Here's hoping the summer is treating you equally as well! Keep in touch...Carol

May 16, 2005

It has been a cold spring so far here in SD. I haven't had the heart to go to the local nurseries to pick out flowers or garden plants. Marshall has gotten the garden worked and sprayed for weeds, so all we need is a little warm weather to get us in the gardening mood.

We have two new additions to the acreage. Don and Pam bought a two year old green broke filly (Gypsy) and we brought home a ten year old pony mare (Gracie), broke to ride and broke to drive. They join my yearling filly, Roxy, in the pasture. I have a saddle on order, but until it gets here I have had Steven ride Don's horse. I have come to the harsh realization that if I get thrown from a horse that I may just break! I'll wait for the saddle to get here so my feet can be firmly planted! Steven is doing a good job, considering that yesterday was only his 4th ride on a horse (any horse)! I'll add a couple pictures on the recent pictures pages.

I want to welcome Sharon and her family to the Newsletter. True to her Cameron inquisitive nature, Sharon has brought home her first computer. I look forward to having more contact with her and her family through this modern marvel (or curse, depending on how you look at it!)

I hope this finds my extented family all in good health and looking forward to a fun filled and safe summer. As Always...Keep in Touch!

April 4, 2005

It would appear that Spring has sprung here in SD....We spent a sunny afternoon working on the acreage yesterday. Managed to fill the burn pit with a winters accumulation of this, that and everything else that seemed useless at the moment.

I recieved a great picture of Cierra Cameron at the Highland Games from both her uncle Jerry and her dad Jeff. I'm going to try to spotlight a new picture for "Photo of the Month" on the homepage, so please keep sending those pictures and photos--both new and old! As Larry used to say--"Everyone loves pictures!" The Highland games are held around the world starting in April every year. Check out the Clan Cameron site for times and places of the future events. I'm sure there will be some held in your area.

I've been sidetracked from tracking Cameron heritage by stumbling on some great Stewart sites. I ran into some great MacIntosh sites also. We are decendents? of the McIntoch's through Grandma Cameron (who herself was a Stewart). Grandma's Grandmother was Frances Elizabeth MacIntosh. (McIntosh) Maybe some-one else out there has more info on this. If you so, please share it with me. I remember Aunt Garnet sharing a story with me about a "Sir Charles MacIntosh (or Mcintosh?) Wish I would have paid more attention!

That's it for this update! I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather. Keep in touch---Carol

March 21, 2004

Happy Easter to my family and friends!

The last week has provided some excitement for us with our hometown Boys Basketball Team winning the South Dakota State "B"s tournament last Saturday night in Aberdeen. Marshall and I drove to town to watch the teams triumphant return on Sunday. Elkton had not brought home the title since 1920. So... the long winter seems to be ending with a positive note on our homefront. It's always nice to see smiles on hometown faces!

Elkton's St Patricks Day festivities were cancled because of the State B's being in Aberdeen, but Marshall and I managed to get to town for a green beer on the 17th. (Oh Yuck!)

We have no plans for Easter, but I know some-one will come up with something before Sunday. In the meantime....Here's wishing everyone a Blessed Easter from Carol's Corner!

February 10, 2005

Things have been quiet on the site lately. There hasn't been a whole lot to add, but most importantly I have added Josh Roth's obituary for those of us who were not able to attend the funeral. The Roth family is mending slowly but surely. They will be intering Josh's remains on the 12th of this month at the Ledyard Cemetery.

It has been a cold and barren winter here in South Dakota. We did get a couple of inches of snow on the 7th, and that helped freshen things up a little. I loathe brown winters. The few warm days that we had at the beginning of the month made me start planning our garden in my mind. The thought of fresh tomatoes off the vine makes my mouth water! Any other gardeners out there?

Keep in touch...Carol

December 31,2004

On the Eve of welcoming yet another New Year, I sit here and reflect on the year that has just past. So many wonderful births and joyous events have happened, yet they have been tempered with some tragic and unforseen losses.

The Reeves family has seemed to take the brunt of the losses, and my heart goes out to them. I have also celebrated their many joys and victories. Michele and Brad are expecting the birth of their new son (Little Larry) in the upcoming year. (March maybe?) Nancy and Arnie have welcomed the birth of three new grandsons this past year, and I know that they were sent to soothe grieving hearts!

I lost the opportunity to get to know cousin Doug Cameron before his passing last January. It was a reminder to me to reach out and keep trying to establish contact with cousins who seem to be "lost" to me.

I have enjoyed each and every contact that the online newsletters have provided for me. The Clan Cameron motto of "UNITE" took on a new and more personal meaning as Larry and I trudged through all of those pictures, stories, obits and memories. Starting up this Moonfruit site has been an undertaking for me, and I am thankful to Larry for lighting the fire under me of wanting to reach out to all of you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the powers that be on the Clan Cameron site. It has become evident to me that we have had some world wide Cameron kin checking in on this site. My distant cousins are welcome to check this site out and contact me. Perhaps some day in the near future I will be able to take in a more global Cameron runion!

I will end this with a wish for all of you that you have a Happy and Blessed New Year. -Carol

I'm just getting things added to the newsletter from the family reunion. (Make sure and check out the reunion page!) I was glad to see so many familiar faces there, and I know that the Elkton Cameron Contigency had a very good time. It is up in the air as to who will host the next reunion in 2006, but we have a hot lead on a prospect! Thanks go out to the Spiess family for hosting the 2004 reunion. If you missed it you missed a real nice time! Hope to see you in 2006!

It's hard to believe that summer is winding down. We've had so little of it this year. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a good long Indian Summer here in SD. Marshall and I have yet to can a single tomato because the weather has been so cool. Everything looks great in the garden, but nothing wants to ripen.

Hello Family,

As we all know we have lost my co-conspirator in the Cameron Online Newsletter. Larry was able to die peacefully in his own home, which was one of his fondest wishes.

You are currently viewing a site which I own, which I can partially fill Larry's unfillable shoes with. The site is under construction yet. I'm hoping that Mary and the girls will be able to keep the original site up and running.

I am adding Larry's Obit to this page (moved to Family Obits) for all who have not as of yet had a chance to see it! Can't tell you how lonely Yahoo is without Larry on the other end, advising, comforting, and yes, sometimes cussing me!

  Keep in touch!-Carol
